Stephen started his career at Michael Squire Associates (as it was then), spending five years working on a number of London projects and competitions at all stages. One highlight in particular was working on Vogan’s Mill in Bermondsey, a studied and imaginative refurbishment of Victorian warehouses and converting a grain silo to apartments. The scheme won a Civic Trust Award in 1993.
